Ilona Esterházy - Men's 1st VIII
Hudson Ultimate Super Predator Hammerhead (2017)
With the purchase of a Hudson Ultimate Super Predator, the first one on the River Cam, there can be no doubt that CCCBC Men's 1st VIII have the best equipment of any of the Cambridge Colleges. This Boat has been purchased thanks to the generosity of alumnus Mark Bicknell (m 1956), to coincide with the 60th Anniversary of his Captaincy of the Club. She will be named Ilona Esterházy after Mark's wife, with the official naming taking place on Saturday 27th May 2017. She was raced for the first time in May Bumps of 2017, where she climbed two places as she did in the Lent Bumps of 2018. We look forward to her bumping many Colleges in the years ahead.
Rackham the Red - Women's 1st VIII
Hudson Super Predator Hammerhead (2016)
In Rackham the Red, the Women's 1st VIII have undoubtedly one of the finest boats of the collegiate women's crews. She began her career as the Women's 1st VIII in Easter 2016, propelling the women to climb six places in the May Bumps of 2016, achieveing 'Superblades' and a Club Record for the number of places climbed. Rackham the Red, was named after former Master of the College, Prof. Oliver Rackham OBE, who sadly passed away in 2015.
Trading Places - Men's 2nd VIII
Trading Places has served as the Men's 1st VIII from 2007 until Lents 2017. Over that time it served them incredibly well and in recent years has helped carry the Men's 1st VIII on their upward run through Division 2. A particular highlight was the blades of Mays 2011. It's final competitive race for M1 saw it bump Selwyn, taking the men to their highest position in Lents since 1995. From Mays 2017, it will continue in the club as an excellent shell for the Men's 2nd VIII and for the top novice crew in Michaelmas.
Michael McCrum - Men's 3rd VIII
Michael McCrum, named after a former Master of the College, served as the Men's 1st VIII from 2000-2007 and then as the Men's 2nd VIII from 2007-2017. From Mays 2017 it will be the shell for the Men's 3rd VIII. In the Michaelmas term it is used for novice crews. It has seen a lot of action over the years, but is in remarkably good shape for its age. A recent highlight is carrying the Men's 2nd VIII to win blades (going up five places) in the Mays of 2015.
